The expansion of Education Savings Account (ESA) legislation has significantly increased demand for alternative education options, such as private microschools and hybrid schools. However, the supply of these schools has not kept pace with the growing number of families seeking flexible, high-quality education choices. This shortage highlights the urgent need for more educational institutions and options that can accommodate diverse learning needs, smaller class sizes, and innovative teaching models. By fostering the growth of new schools and expanding existing ones, communities can ensure that families utilizing ESAs have meaningful choices, ultimately strengthening the overall education ecosystem. 

The Education Freedom Foundation is seeking entrepreneurial educators, parents, and other leaders who are interested in launching their own private microschools or hybrid schools using the knowledge and infrastructure the Foundation has built, along with the classical education curriculum available through Optima Academy Online.   

Microschools are becoming increasingly popular as an education alternative because they offer a more personalized, flexible, and convenient option for families looking for a quality educational experience.  

The Education Freedom Foundation’s Start-A-School Initiative is designed to support educators, parents, and community members in launching their own private microschool or hybrid school.  

WHO IS THIS INITIATIVE FOR? 

This initiative is for individuals interested in launching a microschool or hybrid school but are not sure how and where to start.   

 More specifically:   

• Individuals interested in a career in education. No teaching credential is required to become a microschool facilitator - we provide the tools, training, and ongoing support you need to successfully lead your own microschool. 

• Entrepreneurially minded educators who love teaching and working with children but want to do it outside the bounds of the traditional classroom and education system.    

• Classroom teachers who crave autonomy, want to work for themselves, and spend more of their time doing things they view as important for student success.   

• Parents who use homeschooling or online school resources that want to create dynamic learning spaces in their communities.  

Opening and operating a microschool or hybrid school is an exciting and rewarding journey that will require a significant amount of community outreach and conviction on behalf of the individual.

How much autonomy do I have?   

You have complete autonomy over every aspect of your microschool. Our role is to support you with expertise, resources, and tools to help you be successful.
